The Financial Services Authority (FSA) has launched a website which provides students and other young people with financial advice, an article in the Guardian reports.
The site, www.whataboutmoney.info - launched at a time when students are reportedly graduating with an average debt of around £23,000 - was designed for 16-24 year olds. It`s part of the FSA`s National Strategy for Financial Capability, which `aims to improve the ability of consumers in the UK to manage their money`.
The article in the Guardian, which highlights the importance of students looking after their money, mentions one student who has avoided debt by budgeting. She said: "I`m lucky not to be in debt, but I work hard to make sure I`m not - I make sure I have a tiny bit left over at the end of the month".
It concludes with a selection of `tips for good housekeeping`, taken from the website. The tips range from advice about budgeting (which `stops you running up unwanted or unintended debt`) to guidance on putting money into a savings account each month.
