Debt game teaches debt management skills

13 May 2009

An online game that aims to teach students about the importance of debt management has been created as part of the InDebtEd financial education campaign.

Called Debt Ski, the game involves a coin-collecting character called Piggy Banks. To win, students must learn to maintain their happiness while saving as much as possible and limiting their debt.

`The key to success,` says gamefwd.org, `is avoiding destructive financial behaviour and taking fiscally responsible action.`

Debt Ski was launched by mtvU and the Peter G. Peterson Foundation.

According to Dave Walker, President and CEO of the Foundation: "Debt Ski will entertain [students] while taking them through the trade-offs involved in being fiscally responsible and the consequences of being fiscally irresponsible."
